My very Serbian family was big on traditional names, and as a result, I was blessed with a name that most people struggle to pronounce. When I dreamed of starting my business, I knew I needed a simpler identifier to make it easier for everyone, and thus JBK Weddings & Events was born.

I did my first wedding when I was just 15 years old. A family acquaintance, who had come from Bosnia during the war, wanted to marry the love of her life. They didn’t have much money at the time, so my mother offered our home to host their wedding. I immediately took charge of the decor and all of the planning. Not even knowing anything about cake decorating, I decided to make their wedding cake from scratch. I simply wanted every detail of their wedding to be perfect. On the wedding day, when the couple saw everything I had done, the overjoyed look on their faces is what made me realize that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life!

Here I am, two decades later, running my own wedding and event planning business. I love what I do because it gives me the chance to be creative and the opportunity to make people happy. I always think back to the couple from my first wedding. The look of joy they gave me is what I strive for with every couple I work with and at every event I plan. All of my clients are unique and have different wants, needs, and a variety of budgets. Each day at the "office" is always different, and I thrive on the challenge of making every event a dream come true for my clients.
